Day 21

Today I have so much to be grateful for.  Ryan finally landed a job.  This is only a temporary thing and it will end in September, but the extra income will be a huge boon to our budget.

I am so grateful for music and how it soothes the soul.  Good music truly is the chicken soup for the soul.

I am grateful for my short term and long term memory.  I watch Pa and how he struggles each day to remember the most basic things that I take for granted on a daily basis.  I remember when I took a shower last, I remember what day of the week it is, and I can remember how to fix my meals.  I can even get the basic points of my life memories straight.  Pa really struggles with this and it is heart breaking.  I try and help all I can, but there is only so much I can do.  He doesn't understand that I suffer along with him.  I hope someday that he realizes this.

I am thankful for the ability that I have to walk.  What a blessing it is to just get up on my feet and my brain do its function to help me walk.  What a miracle the human body is.

I am thankful for oxygen.  This life giving force is so amazing.  Maslow has said that humankind has 5 needs food, water, sleep, warmth, safety and security. There is one thing that he left out though.  Oxygen.  Without it we really don't need anything else.  We can only go 6 minutes without oxygen before the human body starts shutting down.  Everything else we can go for at least a couple of days without those.
